Narendra Modi announces Safal as a new initiative
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched SAFAL on Thursday to mark the first anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020.
SAFAL - What is it?
Safal stands for Structured Assessment for Learning Analysis. "SAFAL" (Competency-Based Assessment) is a CBSE assessment for grades 3, 5, and 8. It will be used to assess the advancement of foundational abilities and basic learning outcomes/competencies among learners. Not just in Grades 10 and 12, but across the whole school career, it's designed to help students, teachers, parents, and administrators track learning progress. The results of the SAFAL will not be used in any way by schools to promote kids to the next grade, according to the statement.
In accordance with CBSE, SAFAL will be used to measure the growth of students' fundamental abilities and basic learning outcomes.
Schools and teachers will receive developmental feedback from the test as a diagnostic evaluation, which will help enhance teaching-learning without adding additional exam pressure on children. Language, mathematics, and EVS/science will be tested in SAFAL during the academic year 2021-22. For SAFAL 2021-22, CBSE has invited its affiliated schools to take part.
One more initiative of PM Narendra Modi is AI for All
"AI For All" is another program that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the goal of providing every citizen in the country with a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI). As a result of a collaboration between the CBSE, the Ministry of Education, and Intel India, this program has been launched. There is a link to it at cbseacademic.nic.in/aifforall.html, according to the official announcement from CBSE, Ministry of Education, and Intel India.
The CBSE informed us that the 'AI For All' curriculum is broken into two components – AI Awareness and AI Appreciation. A basic grasp of AI and its potentials and problems is provided in the section on AI Awareness. Artificial Intelligence awareness aims to provide people with a basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence. The course lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. In addition, it aims to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence. The goal of AI Appreciation is to give students a basic understanding of the most common areas of AI. In addition, it intends to create personal plans for users. There are 2.5 hours of instruction in the course.
Students, stay-at-home parents, and even senior citizens can benefit from AI For All, a four-hour self-paced micro-learning program that can be completed in four hours by anyone.
The AI Appreciation segment helps learners gain a basic understanding of key AI subjects and begin constructing their own unique learning plans based on their own interests and needs. An estimated 1 million people will be introduced to artificial intelligence through the program in its first year.
“Global public awareness campaign for artificial intelligence"
It has been described as "the world's largest AI public awareness campaign." It is offered in 11 distinct vernacular languages for everyone with digital access to guarantee that everyone has access. The most interesting part is that the information is compatible with a variety of talkback apps, making it accessible to persons who are blind.
In due course, the CBSE website will provide more information on the SAFAL assessment and registration.
